We make choices everyday day, several times actually. Some choices are simple with minimal impact and some choices have consequences that last a lifetime. The most important thing about choices is understanding the consequences and impact decision making brings. When it comes to healthcare decisions, more often than not, patients make choices with limited knowledge of the impact and consequences. It’s difficult to equip patients with information needed to make decisions. We are bound by time, productivity, systemic blockages, and our own human limitations.
I challenge healthcare professionals to pause this Election Day and consider ways to provide patients with tools to make informed decisions. Be the change agent. Make a difference. Leave no one behind.
