Here’s the scary part

Health inequality can be hidden in front of your eyes. This week a practitioner used the phrase “those people probably”. That’s a dangerous clause. And when you have power and influence to spread your stereotyped convictions, you have a systemic, metastatic condition called health inequity and inequality.

The scary part is physicians give advice , and direct care of patients through their own lens. They may even be blind to their discrimination and deny complicit bias.

The scary part is patients don’t know what to ask, what to believe and where to get more information. Health literacy won’t solve all the problems, but it’s a good start. Take your power back by educating yourself. HealthSpeak,LLC is available to get you started- reach out to the website or email for more information.
