Freedom

Definition: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Health illiteracy is a hindrance and a restraint, in that, the lack of knowledge limits one’s ability to act appropriately. When receiving healthcare information, it is vital to have freedom to ask questions and knowledge to know what and when to ask questions. Together, we can be free from shame, from fear, and from miscommunication in healthcare.
