There’s always a story from a patient or caregiver. If you ask them to tell you what the doctor said, you may get a confusing, and misguided response. This happens to me all the time. Some of the responses are scary and makes me worry about how the patient will survive. Realizing medical terms and conversations can be difficult, toolkits have been formulated to help bridge this health literacy gap. A gap of miscommunication. A gap of dismissiveness.
